Please do check your messages as an important link has been included with that ParentMail message to a Google Form which has a consent option to allow your child to participate and attend, and to add medical information.
This year our school sports day will take place at the Sobell Centre (athletics track) in Aberdare on Tuesday 18th July 2023. The sports day will be for our pupils only, there will be no other schools competing. Pupils will need to come into school wearing their PE kit, their t-shirt can be their house colour. They need to attend registration and then make their way to the bus bay for 9:05am. We will be aiming to leave school at 9.10am. We aim to return to school by 2:45pm, meaning all pupils will be able to catch their school bus if needed. Your son/daughter will need a jacket or jumper to keep warm after their race, if it is raining, they will need a change of clothes.
If it is warm, they will need suntan lotion, a hat and plenty of water. Pupils will be unable to leave the track and there is no shop near the track, therefore all pupils will need to bring a packed lunch and water, if your son/daughter has free school meals we will provide them a packed lunch from the canteen. There will however be an ice cream van on site if pupils wish to purchase an ice cream. The pupils will spend the first hour practising any events they wish to in their friendship groups. They then have the option to select any events they wish to compete in (javelin, shot put, discus, high jump, long jump and track events), we ask that pupils choose 2 events as a minimum. Pupils will only compete with their own year group; the girls and boys will compete separately at this event.
