Dear Parent/Carer,
As I’m sure you are aware, all Level 3 post-16 courses are delivered via the Cynon Valley Consortium (CVC). This is a consortium of three schools, namely Aberdare Community School, Mountain Ash Comprehensive School and St. John Baptist School.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the post-16 options process will again be carried out remotely this year. A CVC website, containing details of courses that may be offered across the CVC in 2022-23, has been created. This will be updated and available to pupils and families from the evening of Tuesday 30th of November. This will be able to be reached from the link below:
CVC – Cynon Valley Consortium https://www.cynonvalleyconsortium.co.uk/
From the 30th of November, the website will also contain a link to an ‘initial free choice options form’ which gives pupils an opportunity to tell us which subjects they may be interested in studying in 2022-23. Pupils are asked to choose 3 subjects, along with a reserve choice, by the end of Tuesday 7th December 2021. Please note that this is an initial trawl and that some subjects may be withdrawn if numbers of pupils opting for them are low.
Following analysis of pupils’ initial choices, another options form will be distributed with subjects arranged into a series of option blocks. At this stage, further details and guidance will be provided with a view to ensuring that pupils make the right choices.
I am sure you will agree that this is a very important time in your child’s school life and I look forward to working with you over the coming months to ensure he/ she has a smooth transition to the sixth form.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. D Mead
Deputy Headteacher
