Re: Covid 19 Update / Face Coverings Announcement
Thank you all for your help and support for our return to school this term so far.
With regard to Covid-19, you will be aware that Wales has reduced its alert level to zero and within RCT the level of risk remains at a moderate level.
However, across the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board, concerns have been raised about the current rates of transmission of Covid-19 in secondary schools. Following a recent review of these rates, together with the evidence that face coverings reduce transmission,as an additional precautionary measure face coverings are being reintroduced in all secondary school settings, for a temporary period until half term.
This will mean that in classrooms, corridors and communal areas we are recommending that pupils and staff wear face coverings. Normal exceptions will apply and they can be removed for eating and drinking in the hall. They will not be required on the yard during break and lunch.
I would also like to remind you of the existing measures that should be followed at all times:
· Regular Handwashing/sanitising
· Following the one-way system
· Social distancing where possible
· Twice a week Lateral Flow Test (Tests are available in reception)
· Not coming to school if you are unwell or have symptoms
· All visitors to the school site to wear masks
The vaccine is now being offered to all 12-15 year olds with the intention that all appointments will be offered by the end of half term. This will undoubtedly help reduce transmission. This additional temporary measure will be reviewed on 22nd October ahead of half term.
