Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: Estyn Review Update

As you will be aware, Mountain Ash Comprehensive School has been in Estyn Review since the core Estyn inspection in November 2018.

In our Estyn report, published in January 2019, inspectors identified six recommendations for improvement. Staff and Governors of the school have worked tirelessly to address these over the last two years. We are very proud of the progress that the school has made.

Estyn and the LA have recently reviewed our progress and our Chair of Governors, Councillor Pauline Jarman and I am delighted to share the following news with you all, which Estyn have reported on their website from today, March 23rd 2021: –

The school is judged to have made sufficient progress in addressing the recommendations from the Section 28 inspection.

The school has been removed from the list of schools requiring Estyn review. There will be no further monitoring activity in relation to this inspection.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff and Governors for their hard work and congratulate them on this good news. I would also like to thank all parents, carers, pupils and everyone connected with the school for their continued support, particularly in these most challenging of times.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs.S.Evans

Headteacher
