World Book Day - Thursday 2nd March
To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March 2017, and the overwhelming success of the first term’s use of the Accelerated Reader programme, your child will be taking part in a sponsored MACS Reading Marathon, along with all students in years 7, 8 and 9.
Throughout the day, in a designated time slot, your child will take part in the marathon by reading for a minimum of 1 hour – they are welcome to read for longer than this if they wish! The purpose of the sponsored marathon is to try to raise funds that will go directly to purchasing brand new books for the children at MACS to borrow from our Learning Resource Centre, so that they may continue the fantastic reading progress they have already demonstrated through using Accelerated Reader.
Not only this, but your child is also invited to wear pyjamas or a onesie on Thursday 2nd March, to ensure they are properly dressed and comfortable for taking part in their reading marathon! The children will be permitted to wear pyjamas or onesies all day, or if they don’t wish to do this, they can bring in a pair of slippers to wear during their reading time; the charge for which will be £1 – these funds will also go directly to purchasing reading books for the pupils at MACS.
Please find attached a sponsorship card, to help your child raise money for their MACS Reading Marathon – prizes will be given out to pupils who manage to raise the most amount of money.
Thank you very much for your continued cooperation, and happy reading!
