Huge congratulations to our GCSE and A level students on their superb examination results Summer 2018!

Year 11 students at Mountain Ash Comprehensive School celebrated some outstanding examination results this summer! They were some of the best results the school has ever had and everyone connected with MACS, Governors, staff, pupils and parents are extremely proud of the hard work and effort of our Year 11 students.

We are thrilled to report that the number of pupils achieving the gold standard of 5GCSEs Grades A*-C including English and Mathematics increased by 19% this year— which is an outstanding improvement! The number of pupils achieving the top grades of at least 5A*/A was the highest ever this year. Results in the Core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and performance in the Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Certificate all increased significantly, whilst pupil performance across a whole range of subjects also increased.  These results demonstrate the high quality of teaching and learning at MACS and the successful partnerships which exist between pupils, parents and staff to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.

Whilst we are proud of all of our students and congratulate them all, we wish to mention some students who achieved exceptional results; Shannah Mabbit (10A* grades); Ellie Williams (9A*s, 1 A and 1 B grade); Jade Driscoll (5A*, 6A grades); Emily Boyce (2A*s, 8As, 1B grade); Kian Campbell (2A*s, 7As, 2B grades); Connor Davies (2A*s, 9A grades) and Ilayda Waters (8As, 3B grades) - Llongyfarchiadau!!

A Level Success at MACS 2018

A level students were celebrating some brilliant results this summer!

We were extremely proud of all of our year 13 students who picked up A level, BTEC and WBQ results in August 2018.

School results improved across the board with 95% of pupils achieving at least 2 A level grades A-E . 15% of students achieved the top grades of  A*/A.

There were some excellent individual results which enabled our students to get into their chosen universities or pursue careers in their chosen fields-

Jack Thickett (grades A*AAAA) will read Medicine at Cardiff University; Morgen Biggen (grades ABBC) will read Marine Biology at Swansea University; Ewan Rees (grades AABB) will read Health Care Science at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Slywia Majer (grades A*ABB) will read Ancient History and English Literature at Cardiff University); Ryan Hill (grades ABBB) will read English and History and Hannah Davies (grades B,C and 2 Distinctions in BTEC Business and Public Services) will pursue a career in Business.  Congratulations to all of our students!
