The role of a Digital Leader is a chance for our children to discover and use their ICT skills to aid their teachers and fellow pupils. They learn all about different computing skills which can be taught to fellow pupils. It gives the children the opportunity to develop their leadership and team working skills through the use of digital resources.
They help promote and inspire ICT in our school by running staff meetings, teaching groups of children, implementing e-safeguarding, reviewing technologies and encouraging others to use ICT more effectively.
A Digital Leader is a pupil who is part of a Digital Leaders Team within a school, whose role it is to support the use and further the development of iPad use in the classroom and support any and all effective technologies.
Digital Leaders come from Key Stage 3 and from all ability levels. Having been assembled through an application process and interview, the Digital Leaders would meet regularly with on-going training and support given to develop specific areas of iPad expertise. While these areas could be self-determined, the school should also choose key areas that are specific to the wider educational or practical needs of the school and its community.
These key areas have been defined as:
- QR Codes
- iPad Apps
- Creating and Editing Video
- More to be determined!
